Crow on the Wire

"Crow on the Wire" by thehachmom

They sit there so proudly
So stoically
So elegant against the sky.
No wonder Poe was so inspired
By their slightly larger Brethren.
I have been told
That they are Sentinels.
I don't know for sure,
But I always say hello
When I hear them caw.

  1. This makes me realize that I really don't see a lot of crows anymore. They really are beautiful birds, very striking. Really nice poem :)

  2. I am glad you have a positive take on crows. I love birds but I don't really like crows. They are taking over (plus, it might be true that Hitchcock's The Birds scares the hell out of me ;)

    1. We have a lot of crows around here, but the only thing they seem to have chased off are pigeons which are really useless birds in mY opinion.

  3. My husband and I saw a crow the other day when we went for a hike. Of course, we're out in the country, getting away from the city.

  6. Maybe it's cliche, but crows can seem so menacing without even doing anything.
