Twisted Mix Tape--Suspicious Minds

There's love, and then there's obsession.  There is being so obsessed that you can only think about the person, monitor their every moment and every move.  It isn't healthy, though with luck it's just a phase and moves into a more normal level of relationship. Otherwise it often ends with someone moving on.

Jealous Guy--John Lennon
Maybe the most disturbing song John Lennon ever wrote, as he justifies every wrong he ever did on the grounds of jealously. On the other hand, not many performers were so nakedly honest about it.

Run for Your Life--The Beatles
"I'd rather see you dead little girl than see you with another man" pretty much says it all.

Layla--Derek and the Dominoes
Probably the greatest work of unrequited love in rock.

Every Breath You Take--The Police
Doesn't get more creepy stalker obsessive than this.

Candle in the Wind--Elton John
Nobody has ever nailed the obsessions of celebrity culture better than this song. The fact that Elton later adapted it for another obsessively stalked celebrity just brings the point home.

    1. The narrator in the song has persPective of a true fan, which is obsessive enough, but then it goes on to comment upon the obsessions of the Hollywood studios and media.

    1. Thanks Natalie. I almost did the whole list on songs related to the Beatles in some way, but decided that would have been too obsessive on my part

    1. I used to love Jealous Guy, but the more I thought about (and the longer I worked for a police Department taking domestic violence calls) the more the song disturbed me.

    1. Thanks Jen (blushes). I knew right off the bat I would use Jealous Guy, the others fell in place after. I can't think about Beatles and obsessions without getting to Layla. (I could done a list inspired by people obsessing over Patti Harrison. That would be obsessive).
